Actor Choo Young Woo has officially been confirmed as the lead in one of the most anticipated Korean films of the year! He joins actress Shin Si Ah to star in the Korean remake of the Japanese hit Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight (working title), a heartfelt adaptation that promises to captivate audiences with a moving story about love, memory, and healing.
Originally released in Japan in 2022, the film is based on the novel by Ichijo Misaki and attracted over 1.2 million viewers in South Korea alone. Now, under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker Kim Hye Young—best known for the film It’s Okay!—the Korean remake will begin filming on July 5, offering a new perspective and a promising cast.
In the remake, Choo Young Woo will play Kim Jae Won, a young man living a dull and unmotivated life until he meets Han Seo Yoon, a girl who completely changes how he sees the world. About the role, Choo commented:
“I loved both the novel and the original film. Since receiving the offer, I’ve been excited and committed to delivering a performance that honors the depth of this story.”
Choo’s casting has generated high expectations, especially given his talent for portraying introspective and emotionally complex characters.
Shin Si Ah will portray Han Seo Yoon, a young woman suffering from anterograde amnesia—a condition that causes her to lose her memory each time she wakes up. Despite her struggle, Seo Yoon faces life with joy and optimism. The actress shared:
“I’ve been a fan of the novel for a long time and I’m incredibly honored to play Seo Yoon. I hope audiences feel all the warmth this story has to offer through my performance.”
This Korean adaptation will not only offer a fresh interpretation of a beloved story but also promises a more emotionally nuanced and culturally resonant take on love, memory, and loss. With Kim Hye Young’s delicate direction, paired with the powerful chemistry of Choo Young Woo and Shin Si Ah, the film has the potential to become one of South Korea’s standout cinematic releases.
