Another K-drama is coming to your watchlist: Dear Hyeri (also known as To My Harry). This production promises to tug at the audience’s heartstrings with a story that’s far from ordinary. Featuring big names and a plot full of twists, Dear Hyeri dives into themes like identity, romance, and overcoming obstacles. Want to know more about this story? Keep reading to discover all the details!
Dear Hyeri follows the journey of Ju Eun Ho (played by Shin Hae Sun), a veteran news anchor who, despite her talent, struggles to stand out due to her reserved personality. She develops dissociative identity disorder after her sister mysteriously disappears, and she breaks up with her long-time boyfriend, Hyun Oh (played by Lee Jin Uk), after eight years together.
Seeking to escape her pain, Eun Ho takes on a new identity: Hye Ri, an optimistic and energetic parking attendant. However, things get complicated when Kang Ju Yeon (Kang Hoon), a former military officer turned news anchor, falls in love with Hye Ri, unaware of her true identity.
Now, Eun Ho must balance her search for her missing sister, her complicated relationship with her ex-boyfriend Hyun Oh, and the blossoming romance of her alter ego Hye Ri with Kang Ju Yeon. Amidst all this, Eun Ho will have to confront her own emotions and challenges to find happiness.
Dear Hyeri boasts an impressive cast, starting with Shin Hae Sun, known for her roles in Mr. Queen and Welcome to Samdalri. She plays the dual roles of Joo Eun Ho, the reserved anchor, and Joo Hye Ri, a cheerful parking attendant. Her performance is set to captivate viewers.
Lee Jin Uk, famous for his role in Sweet Home, takes on the character of Jung Hyun Oh, the charming and popular news anchor who distances himself emotionally from Eun Ho after their breakup. His character is charismatic and well-respected at work, but he hides deep secrets about his past and his feelings for Eun Ho.
Kang Hoon, from The Moment, brings to life Kang Ju Yeon, a news anchor inexperienced in love, who finds his first love in Hye Ri. His journey from military man to news broadcaster is noteworthy, especially with the contrast between his cold, distant work persona and the softer side he reveals with Hye Ri.
Lastly, Jo Hye Joo, who starred in My Demon, portrays Baek Hye Yeon, a confident and stylish news anchor who, despite her independence, struggles with loneliness and harbors unrequited feelings for Kang Ju Yeon.
Dear Hyeri premieres on September 23rd. With its story full of twists, love triangles, and a quest for identity, this K-drama is poised to become a hit on Viki. It explores the complex relationships between the characters, as well as themes like the impact of life on mental health and the challenges of love and self-discovery. Don’t miss this premiere!
