Kim You Jung Talks About the Challenge of Portraying Baek Ah Jin
In a recent interview, Kim You Jung shared that Baek Ah Jin is unlike any character she has ever played before.
“Since the drama features a wide range of characters and intertwined stories, I thought I could gain many new experiences. I had my worries and concerns about the theme and genre, but in the end, I was excited to work with the director, cast, and crew,” said the actress.
Diving deep into the character’s complexity, Kim You Jung explained that she chose to focus on portraying Ah Jin’s emotional emptiness rather than trying to justify her actions.
“Baek Ah Jin uses every means necessary to get what she wants. Because of her personality and environment, she may seem only strong and provocative. Instead of adding more traits, I focused on emptying her inside — on conveying her inner void. I acted while feeling her deep emptiness down to the bone.”
Kim Young Dae Portrays Yoon Joon Seo’s Tragic Love
The drama also stars Kim Young Dae as Yoon Joon Seo, a man who believes love can save him — even if it leads to his destruction.
“I was completely captivated the moment I read the script. I found Yoon Joon Seo’s character incredibly fascinating, and naturally, I wanted to play him,” the actor revealed.
Yoon Joon Seo is the opposite of Baek Ah Jin — sensitive, loyal, and self-sacrificing in love. However, as he becomes more entangled with the woman he loves, he slowly loses himself.
“He supports Baek Ah Jin with unwavering devotion, but as inevitable conflicts arise, cracks begin to form, leading to his downfall,” added Kim Young Dae.
