The South Korean drama Undercover High School has been capturing the audience’s attention and has become a true phenomenon. In its very first week of airing, the series ranked first on the weekly list of Good Data Corporation, which measures the most talked-about TV dramas across social media, blogs, and news outlets. In addition to the success of the production, actor Seo Kang Jun also topped the list of the most discussed actors of the week.
The story follows Jung Hae Seong, a top agent of the National Intelligence Service. After a failed operation, he is demoted and given a new mission: to go undercover as a high school student to locate missing gold bars that once belonged to Emperor Gojong. His investigation leads him to Byeong Mun High School, where he attends the class of substitute teacher Oh Soo Ah.
During his journey, Hae Seong faces unexpected challenges, including forming emotional bonds that complicate his mission even further. Meanwhile, Soo Ah begins to notice that Hae Seong strongly resembles her first love, leaving her confused and stirring up old emotions. Between mysteries, comedy, and an intense investigation, the agent must find a way to complete his mission without letting his feelings get in the way.
Since its premiere, the series has caught the audience’s attention thanks to the charismatic performances of Seo Kang Jun and Jin Ki Joo. The creative storyline, combined with engaging direction, keeps viewers entertained. The chemistry between the protagonists delivers hilarious moments, such as the scene where Soo Ah (Jin Ki Joo) trips, and Hae Seong swiftly dodges, making the moment even funnier.
Another factor that has captivated viewers is the mix of genres. Undercover High School blends comedy, action, and suspense, ensuring a high entertainment value. Jung Hae Seong’s fight scenes, where he struggles to suppress his combat instincts to maintain his cover, have been among the highlights of the series. Additionally, the mysteries surrounding Byeong Mun High School and the missing gold bars add tension to the narrative, keeping the audience eager for more.
The interactions between characters have also been a standout aspect. The protagonist forms a realistic sibling-like bond with Ahn Yoo Jung (Park Se Hyun) and develops an unexpected friendship with Dong Min (Shin Jun Hang), who unknowingly helps in the investigation. Another comedic highlight is the relationship between Oh Soo Ah and Baek Kwang Doo (Oh Yong), especially after she accidentally removes his wig. These moments make the story even more engaging and fun.
